Tribe Time ~ August 3rd Full Moon
The Lunar Lowdown – a few notes
While not a transcript of our current video by any means,
I’ve included the notes below if you’d prefer to read or for referencing the information later!
Actual Time of Celestial Event: Monday August 3rd, 2020 @ 9:59 pm MDT
Sun’s position: 17 degrees Cancer (The Crab)
Moon’s position: 17 degrees Capricorn (The SeaGoat)
As I begin, I return to the place we were in the New Moon of July 20th – the images in the teepee / not teepee with the circle of Grandmothers and the small potent fire between us… now, this fire grows larger and the shadows diminish and we rise and emerge from this sanctuary into the Full Moon night with the Capricorn Moon illuminating and making silver the landscape.
And the tribe gathers, celebrating together ~ and I feel the exultation that comes from dancing in unison with other humans; not needing to think or plan or decide but simply move in unison like the waves within the ocean, like horses galloping across the plains, like a flock of birds spiraling through the sky.
Here in this Moon we tap into that midpoint between individuality and unity.
They showed me how we, as individual women and men of spirit, can seek ritual, song, dance, drumming… anything that helps us to sense into and relax into the healing ancestors in who’s line we serve.
The Indigenous Grandmothers…invite you to perform some sort of ritual or dance or song that weaves you to the tradition that is most meaningful to you spiritually.
I believe this is in some sort of relationship to the fact that we are NOT in our tribes as physically as we would normally be; with needs for social distancing and staying at home and all the news and worry …
yet feel the tribe… dance if you like, chant if that calls you ~ find the dissolving of your focus upon the problems and instead upon the larger group to which you belong heart and soul.
This goes beyond personality, this goes beyond how well you do this or that.
You are a part of this human evolution.
So I say it again: merge into the greater field of awareness that is the harmony of the stars. The implicit order of the Fibonacci series, the spiraling growth of shells and your own body… and ferns and trees and flowers.
With Cancer, we see ourselves for who we are: imperfect & frail, talented and unique – and we gather as tribe to celebrate the harvest.
Yes much of what we are reaping is terrible and IS the direct result of what we have sown.
this you know.
Yet The Grandmothers speak from deeper back in time, pointing our awareness to our endurance, our resilience and the connections that weave our hearts and our lives together.
Notice this, celebrate this dance And unity with the divinity you revere.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I love this message, Sally! Thank you!
I have been celebrating with one of my most beloved and oldest tribes, the Grateful Deadheads, as this marks what we call “The Days Between.” Between Aug. 1 (Jerry Garcia’s birthday) and Aug. 9 (the day he died), Deadheads all over the world mark this time as a time of joyful observance and (on the 9th) a somber remembrance.
This year is the 25th anniversary of Jerry’s crossing, and the remaining members of the band and friends have been offering a deluge of daily musical, film, and story-telling events for everyone. So, yes, we are dancing together, remembering, and carrying it forward —
“What we’re thinking about is a peaceful planet. We’re not thinking about anything else. We’re not thinking about any kind of power. We’re not thinking about any kind of struggles. We’re not thinking about revolution or war or any of that. That’s not what we want. Nobody wants to get hurt. Nobody wants to hurt anybody. We would all like to be able to live an uncluttered life. A simple life, a good life. And think about moving the whole human race ahead a step, or a few steps.”
– Jerry Garcia (Aug. 1, 1942-Aug. 9, 1995)
